The Golden Hawk was my favourite American car for 1958.
Almost a tie but the Studebaker wins this choice. It is DropDeadGorgeous to me. 👍
Thunderbird for me, a true classic!
I mostly hated all cars for the 1958 model run. Too many changes for the sake of change. I was SO mad at Ford for changing my favorite Thunderbirds from 2 seat, 2 headlights to double both of those things.
I guess I got used to the new car but I don't guess I ever got over it.
Studie for me Big John! Thank you sir!
No interest. They ruined the Thunderbird by enlarging it. I understand a two seater is harder to market a two seater but it looks monsterous. The grill on the Studie makes it look old fashion.
I love both, but the Squarebird just a bit more. Like Tony, the 2 seat T-birds will always be my favorite, but the Squarebirds are my second favorite.😊
Thunderbird because it's up to date and has the best name.
Retired in Dunedin, Florida.
I have always liked Studebakers beginning when I was 13 years old when I bought my first car a 1937 Studebaker Dictator sedan. Comparing these two today, I have to go with the Thunderbird. Our neighbor had one of these Square Birds and I was blown away by it's body style and interior. These Birds represented everything new for the future while the Studebaker was looking back by 1958.
I would say Thunderbird if it was a convertible. I would say Studebaker if it were a '62 - '64. But '58 I guess I will have to call a TIE today.
@perrone1 Tony, I'm with you. Did not care for the T-Bird after 57 until the 61 came out, then I took a liking again for a few years.
When I was a teen I had a '53 Studebaker I never could get running, but the 1964 Gran Tourismo Hawk I had when I was twenty was an amazing automobile. I wish I still had it.
I see why you'd still want it. Oh well, I wish I had kept my 70 Trans Am.
Steve
