'59 Cadillac or Continental?

Our new site gives us the ability to conduct a poll, which makes perfect sense for the “Which Series.” It would be beneficial to use this feature when making your selection so we can see which car is the winner.  Of course, please continue to use “Reply” to share your opinion and comments.

I'd describe them both as a bit "gaudy" but the Cadillac less so, so it gets my vote.

Both are outstanding cars today for me, I just can't choose.

I went with the Continental Mk IV for its size and technology. It's just shy of 19 feet long and is of unibody construction.  Its got a larger engine than the Cadillac, 430 vs 390.  The convertible top folds into its own compartment behind the back seat with a hard cover, and its got an electrically operated rear glass window when the top is up. The Cadillac is conventional GM as far as build goes. However, Cadillac convertible did outsell the Continental 5 to 1, probably because the Series 62 was $1,500 less than the Continental!

I came close to saying not interested, but chose the Cadillac. A friend had a black Series 62 delivered while we were visiting them in Saugatuck, and he and I drove around Lake Michigan with the top down and snow on the ground. Great memory.

Both too big & styling too much for my taste; a tie I would not buy; free, either for me.

So far "Tie" is the leading choice.

I voted for the '59 Cadillac, George Schire's favorite car!  🤣
