I'll go with the blue Pontiac Catalina convertible.

Oddly, I wasn't a fan of either for 1960.  I thought General Motors blew it after the eye-catching '59's.  I thought the Pontiac for '59 was drop-dead gorgeous and the Chevy was right up there too.  In fact, my first car was a '59 Chevy Impala.  BUT, back to this "Which One", and I'll go with the Pontiac over the Chevy.

I'll go with the Pontiac. Always liked the grill. I believe it's the last year without the split grill design. The taillights are just so-so to me. The 60 Olds taillights on the 60 Pontiac might look better.

I like both cars very much but the Chevy styling and trim is more attractive IMHO.

Chevy looks sportier to me, a neighbor had a black one with red interior back in the day and I always admired it.

I'm truly surprised to find so many 1960 Pontiac fans. I always felt '60 Pontiacs were an abomination, lacking any cohesive design theme. With the iconic Pontiac "beak" removed leaving just a vertical grill & bumper lines, the front end looks more like a starting point than a finished result. That "pushed-out-grill-look" doesn't help. Those competing design themes of "creases & curves" that run the length of the body and those oddly shaped rear wheel openings are not flattering either. Lastly, the rear, with its circles, bullet shapes, curves, straight lines and over-hangs, is really a study in geometry but not much else.

Like both but the Chevy edges the Pontiac IMO for it's more interesting details.

A close call but I do slightly prefer the Chevrolet.

Pontiac looks much better to my eye. I like the way the upper body sculptured line takes a little break in the middle of the front door, and the very tasteful narrow full-length chrome strip.

Both rather nice for GM but I prefer the Buick in 1960.  Voted Pontiac. Neighbor had a 4 door that us young guys took for a ride, coming off a hill we went airborne and landed perfect straight in the road and kept going, when we got home the father stopped us and asked how we bent the car.  A good sized ripple in the roof may have given us away or the fact the car was closer to the ground in the middle.  What a ride!

Tough call, but it's the Chevrolet for sentimental reasons.

I have to admit the appeal of the '60 Pontiac has always been a complete mystery to me. I know GM wisely decided to tone down their 1960 cars after the OTT '69 models, but the Pontiac almost looks as if someone was hankering after a return to the bluff, heavy look of the '58s. Especially the front end and grille treatment, which to my eye is just unbelievably stodgy, especially compared to the '59 which preceded it and the '61 which followed.

The Chevy, on the other hand, I thought was terrific. It toned down the excesses of the '59 and had a more coherent front-to-back look but still managed to be crisp and stylish, while the Pontiac (sorry, Pontiac lovers) was a shapeless lump by comparison. Of course back then I had to base my view of these cars on photos, and maybe the Pontiac somehow looked better in the metal. But I still can't see it.

Chevvy all the way for me.
