I like the early Mustang, the Barracuda with the fastback design, not so much.

Pete you did a wonderful job updating the Mustang. Are you the one who bent up the bumper?

I really like the simple, unpretentious look of the original Mustang, when it was a simple sporty commuter car with no pretensions to being a muscle car. Unfortunately they got progressively more bulky and clumsy-looking to my eyes and although I guess Ford did a good job of maintaining a "family look" through succeeding generations it's not a look I ever cared for (although obviously lots of people loved the "butch" styling of the later cars). Nice original car you've got there.

No Bob, it wasn't me!  The previous owner banged it up. That's what the Mustang looked like the day I brought it home. It ran terrible and died a block away from home. I actually had to push it the rest of the way.  I paid a whopping $500 for it which nearly cleaned out my bank account.  It was 12 years old and had gone thru two previous owners and led a rough life.  It was originally Vintage Burgandy and was repainted a faded light blue when I got it. I've been debating on whether to repaint it the original color and put on a black top.

@pete-rovero Pete; that vintage burgundy color is gorgeous IMHO and not seen that frequently.  Your red convertible looks really nice but if it is needing a refresh then I would tend to go with the original color as per the V.I.N.   Just one man's opinion.

We're on the same page Jack.  I've already got the Vintage Burgandy paint. It's just a question of do I really want to get involved in taking the car apart (that's probably a yes), and when to do it.

@pete-rovero Vintage Burgandy was one of Ford's best colors in the sixties. A late friend had a 63 Galaxie XL in that color with a white top and interior. The color was a knock out.

I agree Bob and it is still my favorite color of all.  Along with the '63, the '66 Ford Galaxie 2drht. looked awesome in this color.

@pete-rovero, it all depends on what gives you the most enjoyment. Go for it! Far too few of us have opportunities like this.

Love that Vintage Burgandy color. Back in '66 a buddy had that color on a '66 Mustang 2dr HT, with a "Pony Interior" option, I think it was called that??   Ordered it with the 4 speed, 289 V8 and the wheel upgrade. Beautiful car. Looked similar to this.
