They're very different but equally desirable. I voted Chevy after staring at the photos awhile.

Never quite got used to the heavy looking rear quarters of the Torino. But after owning a '75 Monte Carlo (much the same look as this '70) I had to vote for it. Wish I still had it!

I really like the style of that first gen Monte Carlo and with that 454 it’ll go.  😎👍

I looked at the photos a split second and voted Chevrolet.  If I saw the Torino at a party, I'd know instantly we had nothing to talk about - though I dare say it would be a popular guest.

Torino for me on this pairing.  Never a fan of the Monte Carlo, the long nose always reminded me of the Lincoln Mark's.

The Monte Carlo has a pleasant and well-balanced look, although maybe just a little bland. I find the more aggressive-looking Torino handsome until it gets to the front edge of the rear pillar, but like Tony I find the rear end looks too heavy from some angles, although I can understand the fastback look they were aiming for. Plus and minus points for both, so a tie. (OK , twist my arm and maybe it's the Torino).

Needless to say, I just wondered how it would look with less heavy rear quarters and just a bit less rear extension. As always, please feel free to ignore my doodling.

I tend to see these two as being in slightly different classes; with the Torino CJ being all muscle while the Monte Carlo strikes me as being more refined and conservative.  I like them both very much but give the nod to the more exciting Torino.

@graeme-ogg

MUCH better Graeme! With that sail-back roofline, looking at the side of the car just makes it look unduly large from rear of roofline down the side to the wheel opening. Your restyle does a world of good!

Monte Carlo for me. I can make the same comment about it as I have (multiple times) about the '58 Impala: based on its looks, without badges you wouldn't think it was one of the "low-priced three". It has a much more expensive, "upscale" look than its price tag would indicate. Big winner for Chevrolet!

Very easy choice today for me.  MONTE CARLO!  I like the "one" headlight look on each fender.  And it looks more refined and stylish than the bulkier appearing Torino.

@georgeschire I’ve always somewhat liked the 1st gen Monte when it leans more towards the muscle side rather than luxury. My late brother had a ‘72 in a beautiful medium silver/blue metallic with rally wheels. What made it “over the top” with me was it didn’t have a vinyl top. That made a huge difference to the overall look of the car, probably because I didn’t remember of seeing another one.

I'm with Jack in seeing these two in different classes. The Monte Carlo was a pleasant looking car but the Torino was a mean looking car IMO. I vote mean.
