Peak Thunderbird followed by the pretty Ford, then Mercury, then the unfortunately facelifted Lincoln.
Retired in Dunedin, Florida.
OMG John! NO! This is TOO hard!
Dang it; I'll change this about 12 times. OK, here goes - #1 Thunderbird. But in Gunmetal Grey with red interior. (See below)
And although I love the '56 Premiere, I also love the '57 so that's #2. Then, #3, the Fairlane and, bringing up the rear, #4, the over-the-top Mercury Turnpike Cruise Ship.
I believe the '57 Lincoln gets a bad wrap. To me the '57 is a '56 with fins. I don't see why it gets hammered every time it's pictured, but hey, whatever floats your boat.

Thunderbird followed by the Ford. Not sure about the other two; a tie.
Based on looks alone I vote for the beautiful Ford Fairlane 500 HT by a nose over the equally gorgeous Thunderbird; Lincoln and Mercury are no match in '57.
Interesting comparison but I agree with Jack mostly. By far the best looking Ford product for 57 is the Fairlane followed by the Thunderbird. I have always liked the Turnpike Cruiser for it's in your face features. To me the Mercury was a design idea that turned into a production vehicle. Lastly is the Lincoln which went from beautiful in 1956 into a horrible mistake in 1957.

I'm with you John. That's why I put it at #2. I could be easily swayed into bumping it to first place.
If I owned a '56 in '57, I'd likely have traded it in on the '57!
T-bird for me since Dad had a Black 57, which is still in the family with my younger brother, then the Lincoln, Mercury and Ford.
@bob-jackman IMHO the '57 Lincoln unfortunately presented like what it basically was; a '56 with tacked on fins. The look doesn't work at all compared to the previous year. I think FOMOCO's mistake was trying to improve on the classy, elegant look of the '56.
It's tantamount to the restyle of the 56 Thunderbird. The same lines that flow rearward into fins for 57 are the same as on the Premiere. People squawked about it so Ford said, let's hear them squawk even more when we do it with the Lincoln. (They took the designer out and shot him with thunderBIRD shot!)@bob-jackman IMHO the '57 Lincoln unfortunately presented like what it basically was; a '56 with tacked on fins. @perrone1 Man I gotta say that when I compare the two cars I just can't see the similarity; the '57 Lincoln rear quarter fin change looks way overdone in comparison to that of the T-Bird.
@jack-dodds I get your point but I'm thinking that the overall percentage of change from the 56 to 57 Bird, regarding the rear fins, is very near that of the Premiere. Same concept as such.
It's a relative thing; you like it or don't - no wrong answer it is subjective.
@perrone1 Yes...subjective it is for sure. IMHO the fin change from '56 to '57 on the T-Bird (and of course losing the connie..lol) was an improvement...not so much with the Lincoln. Sleek vs. coarse to my eye.
I'm still sticking, as it turns out, to my #1 choice - the T-Bird. I love it. I can be talked into switching the Premiere for the Fairlane but I'll need a martini as well to do it!@perrone1 Yes...subjective it is for sure.
