@michaeldetorrice, I believe 1958 was the first year for Edsel.

Lincoln, Mercury, Edsel then Ford.
@michaeldetorrice Just a small polite correction, Michael. There were no Edsels from "a year earlier". The '58 shown was the first year of the Edsel (although of course they did appear in the showrooms in late '57).

I went with the over-the-top style of the Lincoln, followed by Mercury, Edsel, Ford.

Oops, that is quite correct ! The Edsel may have been introduced in late 1957 but it was a 1958 brand-new, well, car brand. It probably didn't help that 1958 was a recession year in the U.S. economy.
"IMO 1958 isn't a good year for FoMoCo styling."
Agreed - especially when you consider that in '49 Ford introduced revolutionary designs and, more or less, manufactured wonderfully designed vehicles well into the late 1970's. Overall, 1958 was more of a miss than a hit. 🙁 🙁
For me it's Continental, Edsel, Ford, Mercury.
Gents, thanks for your responses.
