1961 by a light year. It's one of America's most beautiful postwar cars, and was a shocking change from the ornate cars that preceded it.
Retired in Dunedin, Florida.
It has to be the '61, although weirdly enough, nearly 65 years on, nostalgia lends the '58-'60 cars a bizarre styling appeal all of their own. (Bizarre being the operative word).

I went with the '61. Even though I love the '58-'60 styling (sculpted sides etc.), the convertible roof throws it off for me. The sixty-one is clean, more modern for its day and just cool!
I voted for the '61. It was the beginning of a new era in automotive design; thank you, Elwood Engel. The '60 was the end of an equally significant era.

I like them both, although they are quite different-looking automobiles. I have replicas of both and they are excellent on display.
The 1960 hands-down for me. It's a postwar design oozing with style and elegance. And then in 1961 boxy and bland was ushered in.

Its the '61 by a mile for me with its fresh new image. The years following that used this body were nice too but couldn't match its nose attractiveness. I was never a fan of the '58-60 Lincoln; although of those three years the '60 is by far the best looking one. The one shown is easier on the eyes being a 2dr.
I like them both for entirely different reasons however my pick today goes to the '61.
I'm with most everyone here, the 61 for sure.
In a minority on this one. The '58 - '60 Lincolns are among my faves of the fifties. I was only five years old when the '58 came out. Our next door neighbor had a Starmist White Lincoln Capri coupe. I was hooked. That period marked the end of an incredible era in automotive styling. Excessive? Perhaps. Over the top? Probably. Outlandish? Sure. But that's why I like 'em. I'm also a huge fan of the chrome-slathered 1958 Buick and Oldsmobile for the same reasons.
Both have style appeal but yes, I do prefer the 1961 version.

I'm right there with you Al. I was born in 53 also and I remember those Continentals around where we lived. Yes, they were big but they were elegantly styled IMO and that's why they still hold a place in my heart.
Everything these days just looks all the same to me. At least back then when I was a kid I could call out what kind of car it was because of the tail lights and the front ends. My dad used to have to race up to see if I was right.. was it an Oldsmobile a Buick was it a Ford what was it. My mom at her age now 90 years she still laughs and reminds me all the time of how dad would go I think he's wrong I think he's wrong and it's like no I never was

As a 1:1 I much prefer the '61. However as a 1/43, Brooklin's '60 (and even more so, NEO's '58) makes a more interesting display item!
