IMO these Imperials make Cadillac and Lincoln designs inferior.

To my eye, as with the Chryslers of the same years, the '55 is a more "cohesive" design.

The '55 looks like it had one stylist, while the '56 looks like it had two - one for the front and one for the rear.

All of the Imperials issued when it became its own brand are wonderful. I wanted to pick the '55 because it was the 1st, but the '56 is so DDG - I had to go with it.

Tough call, slight edge to the '55 for it appears more compact to me. As for the tacked-on taillights, this standout feature is part of the charm of the '55 -'56 generation Imperial.
