Being that they are pretty much identical. I went with the 56 for the clean side molding.
I LOVE them both but prefer the unique rear quarter/tail light and side trim design of the '55.
1956. The fins and the side molding makes all the difference.
Edit: As do the body color headlight covers and rear wheel cutout.

I do like the cleaner trim of the '56. But I like the more original design factor of the '55. Based on one thing, I go with the fifty-five....the solid paint. The matching color roof lends more of a formal/regal air to the car.

I agree with Tony taking in only the pics shown. However considering the actual cars in looking at the rear view I prefer the '56 and I imagine the '56 could have been in mono tone paint as well. Since both front views look the same to me, leaves the rear to consider, '56 please today.
Both are pleasant looking designs. Can’t decide.
'55 for me. As with the similar Chrysler, the '55 is a more "cohesive" design. For example, look at the front and rear bumpers on the '55 vs. the '56.
I very much like the finned look of the '56, but by changing the rear only and leaving the front untouched, it looks slightly disjointed to my eye.

Both are beautiful automobiles and I happily have the '55 edition in 1/18 from Signature. Imperial certainly produced some especially attractive and impressive cars.
slight edge too the1956
I like them both very much but went with the '55. I like its open rear wheel well because, to me, it looks sportier. Kind of like the '55's chrome headlight bezels better too.
The clean cut styling on the '55 does it for me.

I'm prejudiced since I own a 55. The fins on the 56 just look like they are, add ons. As Allan said, I too like the full radiused rear wheel wells as I did on the 53 Packard Caribbean and 53 Buick Skylark.

I'm with Jack on his choice ! 👍
