I like them both. A tie is my only conclusion.
Oh man, this one is way too close for me to call.
I like each one equally well, but for different reasons. The '54 is my favorite Mercury after the iconic '49. And the '55 is a favorite because of the drastic styling change that evolved.
This one for me friends is a TIE!

I voted for the '54. Compared to its competition in 1954 - Pontiac and Dodge - I like the Mercury best. But compared to those same two in 1955 - I'd rank the Mercury last. Hence my vote!

1954. The 1955 is too busy.
Does anyone else despise typing? I do.
Retired in Dunedin, Florida.
1954 please. I much prefer the more integrated design of that year compared to the 55 which seems to me the product of compromise.
I do Ed. That's why I use my talk to text feature on my phone when I reply but sometimes it doesn't come out very clearly and I have to laugh because I sound or think I sound like a complete idiot which I probably am sometimes....
My vote is for the '55. I find it much more attractive than the '54.
55 but only by a slight margin.

Love both, my all time favorite Mercury is the 1956. Voted '55. My taste; '56, '55, '54, '53, '51.
I love both but prefer the styling of the '55......without the butt wart!

Even though I type a blinding 14 WPM with my index fingers while staring at the keyboard, I still manage to type jibberish....much like what I have to say I suppose.
Love both, but I'm picking the '54 this time because it's the most senior of the 2 cars shown.
A side note…Back in the mid-fifties, the coolest guys drove convertibles or 2-door hardtops with continental kits, fender skirts, dual exhausts with Hollywood mufflers, spinner hubcaps and fuzzy dice hanging from the rear-view mirror. The uncool drove daddy's or worse yet, mommy's 4-door sedan and at the local hang-out or beach, they were belittled and had sand kicked in their faces. Just saying. 😊
