The patrician Chrysler for me. So handsome.
Retired in Dunedin, Florida.
I love the Hudson. I love the '48 Hudson. I have learned, over considerable time to embrace its long inverted bathtub shape. I love the convertible form too but not the gigantic windshield header. Never understood the design reasoning there.
I also love the '48 Chrysler. Love the Town & Country and love this New Yorker. If the choice was coupe vs coupe - who knows. But drop top? New Yorker all day long!
Brilliant comparo today John. Bravo.
I like the Chrysler, but not enough to want it over the HUDSON!
I've always been drawn to the '48 through '51 Hudson's. To my eyes for that time period, they looked sleek, racy, powerful, and sporty.
When I'm at an old car show, we all know that any old car can be spotted from a long ways away. Seems like they just POP UP when you glance far ahead of you. And some more than others...the HUDSON'S are "more than others"!
I'd see the Chrysler, but I'd see the Hudson first. That's how my eyes work. Oh, did I say I voted for the Hudson? Well, I did!

They are both gorgeous automobiles, showing two different design elements from the two manufacturers for that year. I am delighted to have replica model examples of each of those cars.
@perrone1 +1 Tony. Like both but the Chrysler surges ahead when I look at detail.
John, this was a tough one for me as I love both of these options. The Chrysler is a stately looking design with pre war elegance while the Hudson was a tasteful up date to their prewar design. While I would welcome either into my garage, the Step Down Hudson takes it for me.
Despite my love for anything and everything Chrysler, the "Step-down" Hudson was an absolutely brilliant design and deserves my vote today!

Love both...going with the Chrysler for sentimental reasons.
Gents, thanks for your responses.
