The CHEVY does it for me!

I’m going for the Ford here with its better drive train and handling.

In addition I think it looks better.
Retired in Dunedin, Florida.
'53 Ford for sure. '52 would have been Chevy, '54 the Ford. There is something about the '53 & '54 Chevy I don't care for, the '52 & '55 are favorites of mine..
Going with the more modern looking Ford although the Chevy is still looking good in 53.

The Ford's styling leaves Chevy in the past.

I love them both but have to give the nod to Ford as it was my first car.
I have always loved the 53 Chevy. But comparing it, here, the the Ford of the same year (Brilliant John!) I voted for the Ford. The GM car still has remnants of the old ponton fenders in the rear, where Ford has stepped into a new era with flatter body lines and uncluttered, forward-looking styling.
Going with the Bel Air, another longtime favorite...love the Ford too.

@perrone1 Isn't it odd that back in the day of comparatively simple, inexpensive wheels and hubcaps they used "curb feelers" whereas now with the super expensive wheels they are passe?

Exactly!!!
I do love the feature on our XT5 (That is/was on 3 of our Mercedes) where, in reverse, the mirrors tilt downward to allow you to see the curb on either side of the car.

Tony.....it is a great feature in that regard but I find that perspective really restrictive and a tad unsafe for seeing the bigger picture when backing. I don't like to rely entirely on the back up camera; especially in bad weather. Or maybe I'm just an old fart, resistant to change from my previous cars. Yeah, that's probably it.
