Chrysler. Not only does it look better but it also has a Hemi engine.

Two sharp looking automobiles. The Packard has panache. The New Yorker is simply good looking. Chrysler for me today!

This one is very close indeed...well done John.  I had to check out the rear perspective before breaking a tie and giving the nod to the Packard styling.  Total reversal for '55 though.

Chrysler for me for the same reasons. I never cottoned to this generation Packard's grille.

Retired in Dunedin, Florida.

Sorry, I voted "no interest" in either car today.  Both appear to be bloated, bulbus, boats.  To my eyes, nothing attractive about either one.

From the rear, from the front, or side view, neither one is appealing to my eyes.  Thankfully, 1955 was around the corner and these Elephants would become extinct.

Body styling Packard, drive train Chrysler, dash Chrysler. I would have called it a tie, went to the dash which makes Chrysler today's choice.  '54 I would have bought a Mercury.

The Packard looks a little more "sleek" to me, I think the fender skirts made the difference for me today.

Excellent examples of two very nice looking cars for the era, in a well-matched comparison! Well done, John 👏

George;

To my eyes this early 50s design era was quite attractive but of course when you compare it to the amazing advances of 55 thru 57 in particular it can't help but look somewhat chunky and less streamlined.  I feel the same though about comparing the post war 40s styling to that of the early 50s.  I tend to keep the various styling eras kind of separate in my mind, which enables me to appreciate them more.

OMG! I love them both. My favorite 50s Packard and Chrysler. I can’t pick between them, went with a tie.

I think there were many pre-1955 American cars that were incredible lookers.  The Packard's and Chrysler's just were NOT two of them.  LOL, again to my eyes.  Smile
