Another tough call, but the Imperial wins. Chrysler corporation went all out on its luxury.
Retired in Dunedin, Florida.
Caddy for sure. I never warmed up to the Imperial although I appreciate the all out luxury they were going for. 👀👍

I did not like either that much but that huge trunk with the fake spare wheel certainly got my attention, then and now.
I voted tie not that liked either one that much.
Imperial for me, "The Finest Expression of the Forward Look"!

(This is John at his finest!) I actually love both but if you are going to be 1958-over-the-top, styling-wise, you might as well go Chrysler! The Imperial was all of that and a bag of Tostito's!!
David, that fake spare cover was referred to, around these parts, as the 'toilet seat'!!
The Imperial is just something different. So it gets my vote today.
I voted TIE. Not because I couldn't pick which one I like the best, but rather because I DISLIKE the looks of both.
You know it's been stated many times that 1958 was a recession year, and thus car buying suffered. But I wonder if the car buying was down that year because it was just such an ugly styling year for just about everything from the Big Three.

Chrysler used that styling gimmick on their most expensive car and their least expensive car, and some in between.
Both are beautiful and luxurious automobiles and I like them both. 1958 may have been a recession year but the economy as a whole had a downturn that year and my Dad, as well as a neighbor on each side of our house, also bought a 1958 car. They happened to be three '58 GM cars, my Dad's '58 Chevrolet Bel Air, one neighbors 1958 Pontiac and another neighbors 1958 Oldsmobile.
I had the toilet seat on my '59 Plymouth Sport Fury convertible...it came in handy, but it lacked privacy.

I'm going with the Cadillac, but I like the Imperial too.
