Yikes! I love the full wheel cutouts on the '53. But I love the two tones on the '54. This evening, I vote for the '54. BTW, I love Brooklin's '54 Caribbean.

'54 for me as well, I think the two-tone helped to visually slim down the dated, "high pockets" look of this Packard body styling generation.

For years my favorite was the 53 with it's full rear wheel cut outs. For the last few years I have come to appreciate the 54 with it's two tone color combinations. I have examples of the 54 by MOC, Brooklin and Automodello and love them all.

Fifty-three for me. Pure essence of Packard fifties design. Also love the full wheel-well cut outs!

This generation of Packard doesn't do anything for me.

Retired in Dunedin, Florida.

It's the '54 for me for the 2-tone and trim enhancement.

I really like both of these years and really cannot decide if one is superior to the other. If I was to have to choose, I would say that the two tone makes the 1954 stand out more in this pairing.

@jkuvakas

What an excellent review John. I do prefer the Brooklin 1954 Caribbean in this comparison.

Well there has to be one in every group, so this time it's me.  I voted a "Tie".

But I didn't vote a Tie because I couldn't decide which one I like better, but rather I voted Tie because I dislike both equally the same.  They look big, bulky, bloated and extremely outdated.

And I know some love the "wheel cutouts", but I'm not on that list either.  I hate seeing fender cutouts that reveal grubby tires or wheels.  Thus my problem with EVERY car produced over the last couple of decades.

These are all such beautiful automobiles and scale model replicas of each color ! Packard really hit a home run with this stunner and the model makers have also done a terrific job in reproducing it in 1/43 scale.

Presently, I have two different color 1/18 Packard Caribbean diecast replicas from Yat Ming and they are both favorites.

The 54 for me. I’ve always liked the 53, but in 54 Packard took the style to a whole new level of class.

Now for the models, the soul of the Brooklin model is very apparent and while the Automodello is nice, it can’t compare with the Brooklin.

No hesitation here, the '53. I like it's body styling and everything else about it including those open rear wheel openings ! I love most cars that are my age. To me the '54 looks to have inspired the '55-56 Pontiac.
